MBX Networks - IT Solutions for a Stronger Tomorrow

IT Projects & Consulting for Mid-Michigan Businesses

Server replacements, migrations, office moves, and infrastructure upgrades, scoped honestly, planned carefully, and finished properly.

Some technology work doesn’t fit inside day-to-day support: a server at end of life, an office move, a merger, a jump to the cloud, or infrastructure that has simply been outgrown. These projects have real deadlines and real consequences when they’re done poorly.

MBX Networks plans and executes IT projects for organizations across Mid-Michigan, as standalone engagements or alongside our managed services. We also consult for businesses that need an experienced technical opinion before committing to a direction.

Projects we take on

Server replacements & virtualization

Replacing aging physical servers, consolidating with virtualization, and deciding what belongs on-premises versus in the cloud.

Infrastructure upgrades

Storage, compute, power protection, and server room cleanup, brought up to current standards without unnecessary spending.

Office moves & buildouts

Technology planning for relocations and new construction: cabling, network, internet service, phones, and a cutover plan that keeps downtime minimal.

Microsoft 365 & cloud migrations

Moving email, files, and workloads to Microsoft 365 and cloud platforms with a tested plan and a clear rollback path.

Network redesigns

Rebuilding networks that have grown organically into something fragile, with proper segmentation, capacity, and documentation.

Hardware refreshes

Planned replacement cycles for workstations and laptops, with imaging, data migration, and disposal handled end to end.

Technology assessments

An independent review of your environment: what’s solid, what’s at risk, and a prioritized roadmap with realistic costs.

IT planning & vendor selection

Help evaluating software, internet providers, phone systems, and hardware, with recommendations based on fit, not commissions.

Special projects

The odd jobs that don’t fit a category: acquisitions, compliance-driven changes, legacy system retirements, and one-off technical problems.

Projects succeed in the planning

Most failed IT projects fail before anything is installed: vague scope, missed dependencies, and optimistic timelines. Our projects start with a written scope, a schedule built around your business calendar, and honest conversation about risk.

And when the project ends, you get documentation of what was built, not just a working system and a goodbye.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to be a managed services client for project work?

No. We take on standalone projects for organizations with internal IT or other arrangements. Many managed relationships actually start with a single successful project.

How do you price projects?

After scoping, you get a written proposal: fixed-price where the work is well-defined, time-and-materials where discovery is genuinely needed. Either way, the assumptions are documented and changes are agreed before they happen.

Can you give a second opinion on another vendor’s proposal?

Yes. We review quotes and designs from other providers and tell you plainly whether the approach and pricing are reasonable. Sometimes the answer is “that proposal is fine, take it.”

How far in advance should we plan an office move?

For the technology portion, 8–12 weeks is comfortable for most offices, mainly driven by internet service installation lead times and cabling. It can be compressed, but circuits ordered late are the most common cause of moving-day problems.

Have a project on the horizon?

Bring it to us early, even at the idea stage. A short scoping conversation now prevents expensive surprises later.
